How many computers a modem can ';carry';?

I have cox cable, two different computers with two different modens. Cox wants to charge me two fee for two modens. Is such a thing as a ''spliter'' to transfer use just one modem and get two computers working at same time? We had wireless interent and found it slow and pretty bad to conect. Back to old cable things. Thansks

I used to use dual modems.

It can connect 2 modems with separate logins at the same time.

Install 2 modems, configuring each through Dialup Networking to dial in separately.

Good luck.

You can use a router. They will tell you that you can't but you can. Even if there is MAC address security all you have to do is read in your routers help manual how to clone the mac address of the primary pc. Then COX's network will see your router as your primary pc and will never know about the second one. They will not help you do this, but it is perfectly legal as long as you are paying for at least one connection.
Hm... It seems like you could use a router. I did not get enough details from your set up. but here is a typical scenario. The modem is the main internet entrance. By connecting it to a router it will open up more ports so that you can in theory use it to connect to more computers. Thus, by passing the need to get more modems. I did some research because I actually never did a cable Network setup but it is not too different from a regular network. Just slightly different. So here you go. Are you ready for this? :%26gt;)
