We now have TWO desktop computers in one house. But we only have one cable dsl box and line, and we have a router. Is it possible to somehow run BOTH computers on the one internet line? And if so any suggestions would be so helpful.

Since you are using a router then it's simple. You'll need a CAT 5 cable long enough to go from the network card on your second computer to your router. Once that's done reboot your system so that the computer sees you are connected to the router and your router should assign your second computer an IP address and you should be able to go out on the internet

Of course you can. From your description you appear to have all the parts needed.
The internet feed from your ISP is terminated with a modem than has an ethernet hand off. This should be pugged into the WAN (or Internet as the name may be) port of the Router. If the router has only one LAN port, you will need a network switch. You plug the LAN port of the router to the network switch and you plug each pc's LAN port into other ports of the network switch. In all cases you use straight CAT5 patch cables. Now if your router has more than one LAN port, it actually is a switch / router and you do not need a separate network switch - just connect the pcs to the LAN ports.
Make sure you have properly configured the Router as the manual will direct you. You should now be able to access the Internet from both pcs and share files between the pcs.
If you are having a problem with one or more pc, review the router configuration steps as this is where the problem is.
Keep in mind that you must shut off the modem for at least 0.5 minutes before you connect the router to the modem. After at least 0.5 min after starting the modem, you can start up the router; also wait at least 0.5 min after starting the router to start the pcs.
