Dell sells them around 300. But before you go and spend 300 dollars understand that it will not be fast and will act like a older computer in speed. This is how they are able to sell it under 300.

I agree with the above post. You should really wait and save up for it because nothing sucks more then waiting for a computer to finnish loading. Anything above 800 should be aright.

Check for the day after thanksgiving. There should one coming for less than 200 in Best buy. I have got one last year. Its good for the everyday usage.

Check out craigslist.com. Most ads there are private and I can see a lot of puters for sale dirt cheap.
Look for close out sell. Tiger Direct send me e-mail all the time with cheap-o computerd deals. Also check Dell. Sometimes you can find puter around $300. But make sure you don't add anything on to it.
yes also look on postaroo.com
Classifieds are a bit risky in my opinion as you never know what you are really going to get. Personally I would try tigerdirect.com, using a quick search ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/... ) you will see some under 300$ mind you it would be difficult to find with monitor but hopefully that helps some.
no matter what you get is going to suck for 300. you wont be able to do anything but word.
Good computers are priced between $1500 and $3000 including monitor. An average computer runs between $800 and $1500. Anything less then $800 is going to be so outdated and worthless in a year that you won't even be able to surf the web with it.

Think about what is about to happen in the computer industry: They are about to introduce a processor with ''Quad Core'' architecture. And they are about to release Windows Vista a true 64 bit operating system. Most machines, even current top end systems are going to be out paced so fast it is going to make peoples heads spin.

If you want this machine for personal everyday use and don't mind it being a dust collector next year then by all means buy it. But if you want to be able to use it for at least a couple of years then save up some more money.
